Each year Bodyforce supports a charity close to its heart and this year is no exception. We are immensely proud of the community you have helped us build and of the generosity you have shown in the past when supporting our fundraising efforts which has helped us raise over 21k across 2 charities.
Last year we helped raise in excess of £20k for CRY. This was achieved through a number of events including our Summer Social BBQ, Silent Auction and (now) infamous Obstacle Race and also by some of our members taking on the Woburn Triathlon and by the generosity of St James’ Place through the fund-match scheme.
This year, Bodyforce is supporting a charity called RP Fighting Blindness (1153851). Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is an inherited condition of the eye that leads to loss of vision and blindness. RP Fighting Blindness works hard to stimulate and fund cutting edge research to find a treatment or cure and support those affected.
Four of our members, Bethan Courtman, Anne-Marie Hunter, Carole Holloway and Nicola McCarthy have set themselves the challenge of raising £15,000 for the charity. They have a number of events planned through the year, including travelling with the RPFB Charity to trek in the Mont Blanc region for 5 days in July.
We are fully behind them in their endeavours to hit their target and will once again be holding our Summer BBQ, Silent Auction and Obstacle Race (bigger and better this year!). We’re also going to facilitate a seminar on ‘The Psychology Behind Training’, as we know this is something many people are interested in (more details below).
So, what can you do to help we hear you ask? We’d just appreciate your support where ever possible, so pop these dates in your diary and spread the word to your family and friends:
Thursday 26th April, 8pm: A seminar on: ‘The Psychology Behind Training’ a look at how influential the brain is in determining how well we perform and how we can take control. We aren’t charging for this seminar and our speaker has kindly offered her time for free but we will be asking people to make a donation on the night, so please bring some dosh to put in the bucket!
Saturday 30th June, 8pm-11pm: Riverfest Rocks, Route66 will be playing at a limited-ticket event on the Rec all in aid of RP Fighting Blindness £15 per ticket plus licensed bar.
Saturday 18th August, 10am -2pm: Bodyforce summer fundraiser involving a BBQ, Silent Auction, Obstacle Race, and much more! We’d love to see as many of our members joining us in this celebration as it’s a great way to kick back and relax with and revel in what a great community Bodyforce has become.
Once again we’d be very grateful for donations to either the Silent Auction or our raffle. Our ‘Ace’ team of race organisers will be delivering a fantastic, challenging obstacle race again, so gather your teams together to see who will be crowned champions!
Thank you for your continued support; without you guys none of this would be possible.
